Psychosynthesis is a form of Integrative counselling. Psychosynthesis is based upon counselling techniques including, Behavioural, Person Centred, Gestalt, meditation, relaxation, guided imagery and visualisation. It is a holistic model working with mind, body and soul.
Psychosynthesis focuses on what is happening for you in the present, the impact of your past upon you and works with your future and your potential. It’s a proactive model of counselling, working with hopes and aspirations as well as pain and crisis.
Psychosynthesis behavioural techniques include developing our sense of self awareness and how we experience and act in life. It looks at the connection between mind, body and feelings and our patterns of behaviour. It works with the different sides to our character, such as our 'self critic' and 'addictive' sides. It aims to develop our 'will' to explore these aspects, expand our inner resources and make the positive changes we seek.
It also includes person centred techniques www.bapca.org.uk which allow the individual a confidential and non judgmental space to trust and guide themselves to their inner resources.
Using a Gestalt approach www.gestaltcentre.co.uk it allows the individual to work with the here and now, any blocks they are facing in every day life and working with those blocks.
Psychosynthesis also offers the opportunity to work with meditation, relaxation, guided imagery, visualisation and dream exploration to explore the connection between mind, body and soul and enhance our holistic sense of well being.
Psychosynthesis offers the opportunity to better understand who we are and our interaction with life. It provides an opportunity to work with the challenges and potential within us and around us. It helps develop our capacity to live our lives the way we want to and need to, and achieve our potential.
Psychosynthesis is an approach to human development fostered by the Italian Psychotherapist Roberto Assagioli (1888 – 1974) www.aap-psychosynthesis.org/assagioli.htm .
